The latest version of PreSonus’ popular DAW is now available, and comes packed with new features that promise to make it the most innovative version to date. Studio One Pro 7 is said to bridge the gaps between loop-based music production, mixing, mastering and live performance, kitting users out with a wealth of advanced new tools, workflow improvements and an extensive collection of sound libraries.
The update introduces over 30 new features, with headline grabbers including an AI-powered stem separation tool, Splice integration, an Integrated Launcher system, a new virtual instrument named Deep Flight One and a range of improvements to the DAW’s Impact drum machine.
Top New Features
- AI-Powered Stem Separation: Studio One Pro 7 includes a built-in ‘un-mixing’ function capable of splitting audio into (currently) four separate stems, offering a flexible way to sample remix and rearrange sounds in creative ways.
- SPLICE Integration: PreSonus has partnered with SPLICE to provide direct integration of Splice Sounds into the Studio One Browser, providing users with a catalogue of royalty-free sounds and producer tools. Users can also use a Search with Sound function to discover compatible sounds that automatically sync to their project’s rhythm, key and tempo.
- Integrated Launcher: Users can now craft arrangements using a dynamic grid of audio or MIDI loops and patterns next to the timeline in combination with Studio One’s familiar drag-and-drop operation, all from within a single window.
- Deep Flight One: One of the most popular sound sets — prized for its soundscapes, drones, pads, percussive and lead sounds — is now available as a standalone instrument.
- Impact Integration for Note Editor: Allows users to easily create patterns, adjust parameters, and edit drum samples and loops, all without having to open a new window.
- Interactive Scale and Loop Tools: Offering convenient ways to view and edit notes in scale, all scale-related features are now all in one place. Additionally, The Loop Tool is now available as an alternative to duplicating events, allowing users to fill in sections or even an entire track.
- Global Transpose: With one click, creators can now change the key on an entire song and transpose parts in real time.
- Advanced Tempo Detection: Studio One Pro 7 now features advanced tempo detection as well as the option to extract the original tempo of a recording with one click.
- CV Instrument: Creators with analogue synthesizers can now control instrument parameters directly from their DAW.
