We recently announced the return of the hugely popular Project Studio Expo to the AES Convention, the USA’s premier pro-audio show. For the third year running, Sound On Sound will be partnering with the Audio Engineering Society to present a two-day programme of seminars focused on solving project-studio problems. What’s more, the seminars are free to attend for anyone who pre-registers on the AES web site (link below).
Excitingly, we’ve also confirmed a session with producer Fab Dupont (Mark Ronson, Jennifer Lopez) and top-flight mix engineer Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk, Pharrell) who will dissect one of today’s hottest tracks. We also have a newly-confirmed seminar from Joe Carroll of the Manhattan Producers Alliance.
Other guests include SOS editors Paul White and Hugh Robjohns, SOS regulars Mike Senior and Craig Anderton, Larry Crane of Tape Op magazine, acoustician John Storyk and engineer-educators Stephen Webber and Alex Case.
The schedule of events is bursting at the seams and runs on October 10th and 11th. The line-up this year includes:
- Vocal recording in the project studio (Paul White and Hugh Robjohns).
- Songwriting on the fast track — with computers (Craig Anderton).
- Preparing your multitracks for mixing (Paul White).
- The five most common project-studio recording mistakes (Mike Senior).
- Listen up and learn! (Stephen Webber and Alex Case).
- Where to focus your studio gear purchasing with a limited budget (Larry Crane).
- Irons in the Fire: Career and Business Development Mentoring with the Manhattan Producers Alliance (Joe Carroll).
- Creating a project studio (John Storyk).
- Mixing secrets: production tricks to use with any DAW (Mike Senior).
- How to make amp sims sound totally fabulous (Craig Anderton).
- The special sauce for mixing a hit record (Fab Dupont and Mick Guzauski).
- The importance of a reference monitoring level (Hugh Robjohns).
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to learn tips and tricks from the pros and connect with your peers. The AES Convention will be taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown LA from 9th to 11th October.
