Improved audio quality, Patch Browser tweaks & more
Tone2 have announced that the latest version of Saurus, their popular analogue-emulation soft synth, is now available. Free to all users, the update implements a number of new features that improve the instrument’s audio quality, along with some new quality-of-life features and a fix for a prominent bug.
What’s New?
Here’s an overview of what’s changed in the latest version of Saurus:
Enhanced Sound Quality
- Significantly enhanced sound quality when 44 kHz is used as the DAW's sample rate. Reduced aliasing up to 12dB.
- Drastically enhanced sound quality when 88 kHz is used as the DAW's sample rate. Reduced aliasing up to 20dB.
- Enhanced the sound of the reverb. It now has a smoother roll-off, less phasing, more detail and more depth.
- Slightly enhanced sound of the chorus. It now offers more precise interpolation.
- Slightly enhanced sound of the delay. It now offers more precise interpolation.
New Features
- Soundsets are now coloured blue in the Patch Browser, making them easier to see.
- Template patches are now grey in the patch browser.
- VST3-only installation has been added to the setup on PC.
Further Enhancements
- Enhanced the look of the Patch Browser's scrollbar handle.
- Improved smart detection of the default installation path.
- Setup now always selects Full Installation by default.
- Better default values for the Init patches.
- Many more small improvements.
Fixes
- Solved an issue where duplicate notes could not be triggered when the sustain pedal was engaged.
Compatibility
Saurus 4.1 is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or higher, Macs running macOS 10.12 and above, and is also available on Linux machines via WINE.
