No, that’s not a typo in the title, the latest plug-in from Wavesfactory is indeed called Re-Esser. Designed to reimagine what a de-esser is capable of, the new arrival is said to be capable of shaping vocal and dialogue recordings with a level of precision and creativity that no other de-esser has ever offered.
Described as the “next generation of de-essing”, Re-Esser begins by separating sibilance from the tonal elements of the incoming audio, and allows each of the resulting layers to be processed independently. a single control is provided for the level of the sibilance, meaning that it’s capable of tackling basic de-essing tasks quickly, without the need to configure thresholds, ranges and so on.
However, it’s the additional functionalities that set the plug-in apart from the crowd. Wavesfactory say that the new plug-in isn’t limited to basic de-essing, and is capable of carrying out a whole host of different tasks, including:
