Erica Synths are now taking pre-orders for the Hexinverter Mutant-inspired drum machine that was revealed earlier this year, with shipping expected to begin on 11 December 2025.
Mixing Erica Synths’ signature techno sound with the much-loved design of Hexinverter’s Mutant-series drum modules, the Hexdrums is said to have been “forged out of deep respect for traditional designs”, while introducing some powerful new features that expand on what was possible with the original modules. Mutant-derived voices include the BD9 and Bass Drum, an optimised Mutant Machine, Snare Drum, Clap, Rimshot and HiHats, with the remaining voice count made up by Erica Synths’ own selection of crash and ride cymbals.
Individual outputs are provided for each voice, while the unit’s master section houses Compressor and Master Drive sections derived from Hexinverter’s Mutant Glue. It’s definitely a machine that’s kitted out for performance, and comes equipped with a
sequencer that offers up to a 64-step pattern design, and boasts some powerful programming features that include accents, per-step micro-timing, ratchets, rolls, per-step probability and a memory of 16 banks that can each contain 16 patterns.
