IK Multimedia have announced the release of the latest sound library for their SampleTank 4 software. Created by acclaimed Cuban musician and producer Alex Rivas, Salsa Loops Percussion contains 155 presets that feature a wide variety of percussion instruments, providing users with all they need to create a salsa track from start to finish.
Instruments provided in the library include timbales, congas, timbales with kick and snare, and bongos, along with multiple types of handbells and guiros, with all of the samples capturing performances by professional salsa musicians from Cuba, Venezuela, and Columbia. All of the sounds are organised into Intro, Verse, Cascaras, Fill, Chorus, Pre-Chorus, Cha-Cha, and Cuban Style Bomba song section categories.
All of the library’s audio has been recorded using premium studio gear from the likes of Neve, API, Avalon, Universal Audio, AKG, and more, with loops recorded at 95, 100 and 105 BPM, three classic salsa tempos. Additional presets using SampleTank’s PSTS engine are also provided, and are capable of automatically syncing to a host DAWs tempo. Users are also able to take advantage of effects from T-RackS, AmpliTube, and Syntronik, which provide filtering, EQ, and compression facilities, with some real-time performance functionality provided by an additional resonant low-pass filter assigned to the mod wheel.
"After years of struggling to find an authentic sounding salsa library, I decided to create my own with a modern approach and inspired by current salsa artists. I carefully chose the musicians, instruments and gear to make this project come to life, so now you, too, can make your own genuine salsa songs." - Alex Rivas
