IK Multimedia’s range of compact studio monitors has just gained a new member that claims to redefine what a subwoofer can be. The iLoud Sub is said to be the most compact sub on the market, but still manages to deliver deep, accurate low-end performance, and also benefits from the company’s ARC X room-correction technology.
The iLoud Sub employs a 6.5-inch aluminium driver along with a pair of 6.5-inch passive radiators, has 200W of power available and boasts a low-frequency response that extends all the way down to 25Hz. As for connectivity, the unit features analogue line-level inputs and outputs on both XLR and RCA connectors, along with a digital input via USB and high-quality Bluetooth streaming. Its onboard DSP runs IK Multimedia’s ARC X room correction, allowing the sub and any connected monitors to be calibrated for the user’s room.
As you’d expect, the iLoud Sub has been designed to complement IK Multimedia’s own monitoring range, and can be paired up with the likes of the iLoud Micro Monitor and Micro Monitor Pro, as well as the larger iLoud MTM. But it can also be used with just about any other 3–7-inch nearfield monitors, and thanks to its compact design, it’ll be a tempting choice for those running multi-channel surround and immersive setups in smaller spaces.
