S Pulser Pro is the first release from SoliderSound, a new software company established by the team at Techivation. The plug-in is dedicated to generating rhythmic effects from any sound source, and offers a versatile range of tools to customise the resulting patterns.
Incoming sounds can be split into sequences that contain between two and eight steps, which can then be shaped using four different types of envelopes: Ducker, Sine, Square and Saw. Any of the envelope shapes can be applied seperately to each step and edited individually, allowing the creation of a huge range of interesting rhythmic patterns. The overall level of the pulsing can then be controlled via a large Effect Depth parameter in the centre of the GUI.
Despite its compact and simple appearance, S Pulser Pro is equipped with a useful selection of controls that allow users to customise their sequences. As you’d expect, a Rate parameter offers a selection of different note values that determine the speed of the sequence, and there is also an Offset control which allows the start of the sequence to be shifted forward or backward by ±100% of the step duration.
A Frequency Range slider makes it possible to choose a specific range for the processor to target, rather than affecting the whole signal, and Mid-Side slider allows users to balance the effect between the mid and sides elements of a stereo signal. When using the latter control, it is possible to apply the settings globally, or on a per-step basis.
The GUI design will be a familiar sight to those who have used Techivation’s range of processing plug-ins, and it’s not just the looks that are shared between the two brands: S Pulser Pro also incorporates some of the helpful features found in all of Techivation’s offerings such as built-in undo and redo functions, and a 90 - 150% scaleable GUI that ensures the plug-in will sit neatly on a range of different display sizes.
Over 30 factory presets which have been designed for specific instruments and styles of effects are included, and the plug-in also offer an auto-generation feature — provided by a button marked with a pair of dice — which will randomise all of the parameters and provide users with new ideas with a single click.
Compatibility
S Pulser Pro is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.12 or higher. It is available in VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in formats.
