Teenage Engineering have announced the TX-6, a battery powered miniature field mixer with a built-in 12-channel 32-bit/48kHz USB audio interface. Measuring just 90 x 62.5 x 15mm (23mm with encoders) the TX-6 is said to be the smallest device of its kind. Despite its tiny footprint, the mixer offers six stereo (or 12 mono) channels, each featuring a three band EQ, a compressor, a cue output, and an aux send which will allow users to utilise eight built-in effects. The majority of the audio I/O is provided on 3.5mm mini-jack connectors, whilst the main output uses a 6.3mm connector (a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter is included). There is also USB-C present to provide a connection to a DAW, and iOS devices are supported thanks to the presence of MFi.
In addition to its mixer and interface capabilities, there is also a built-in sound generator featuring four waveforms and four drum machine sounds to create music on the go. The control interface is customisable, allowing encoders to be assigned to control different settings within the device. Teenage Engineering say the TX-6 is the first device in a new portable range, with more devices and accessories planned.
