Vicoustic have just sent us a press release about what might be the best-named product we’ve heard of all year. The Super Bass Extreme is not, as you might think, an overly hyped EQ setting on a cheap consumer hi-fi. It is, in fact, a corner trap, but its Portuguese manufacturers say it has some interesting construction elements that set it apart from the many already available.
The front panel is wood, and behind this are a membrane and two layers of foam, with another panel at the rear. The latter is drilled with 1mm holes, and this apparently means it acts as a Helmoltz resonator.
The whole assembly is designed to absorb frequencies between 60Hz and 125Hz, while the front panel acts as a high-frequency diffusor. The Super Bass Extreme is available now, in a choice of five different finishes, at a price of £511 per pair.
