The latest launch from VSL isn’t another orchestral library, but rather a new convolution reverb that captures the ambience of Stage A at the company’s Vienna Synchron Stage facility. Captured with the same Decca Tree array employed in the studio’s film and TC music recording sessions, Synchron Stage Reverb promises to accurately replicate the sound of the renowned room, and offers a shallow learning curve thanks to its minimalist GUI design.
VSL are well known for their high-end orchestral libraries, and much of their success is down to the acoustics of their purpose-built scoring stage. With the launch of the new reverb plug-in, the company are opening the virtual doors to the renowned space, and allowing users to place any of their other libraries, or their own recordings, into the same space that forms a crucial part of the Synchron Series’ popular sound.
The company say that Synchron Stage Reverb has been designed to deliver stunning spatial realism for all stereo and surround production needs. Thanks to multiple impulse responses captured at several different mic positions — including a Decca Tree, surround outriggers and height channels – users can intuitively place their audio signals at pre-defined positions, with General Purpose, Orchestral and Vocal/Drums modes catering to a range of different projects.
Compatibility
Synchron Stage Reverb is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
Synchron Stage Reverb is available now, and is currently (2 April 2025) being offered at an introductory price of €99, reduced from its full cost of €149. Registered users of at least one Studio Series library will receive an additional discount of 10% during the introductory period.
To mark the occasion, all of VSL’s Studio Series libraries are available at discounts of up to 40%. All instruments and ensembles have been recorded in the controlled environment of Vienna’s second studio, the Silent Stage. Thanks to its relatively dry acoustics, this studio setup gives users maximum flexibility, allowing them to position each instrument anywhere in the stereo field and in any acoustic space — pairing with Synchron Stage Reverb, of course, means they can be placed in Stage A of the Vienna Synchron Stage!
