German synthesis wizards, Waldorf, just managed to sneak us news of the latest addition to their wonderfully named Blofeld synths in time for this issue. The newcomer is called the Blofeld Keyboard Synthesizer and it promises to pack a lot of features into a reasonably priced package.
The details of this stylish, metal-cased keyboard look good. It offers USB MIDI for PC, Mac and Linux, a 60MB sample memory, 16-part multimode and a maximum of 25 voices polyphony, all from a standard keyboard with 49 weighted keys and aftertouch.
Other features include an internal power supply, pitch-bend and modulation wheels, virtual analogue, wavetable and sample-based oscillators, stainless-steel rotary encoders, a backlit 128 x 64-pixel LCD, over 1000 sounds, three oscillators, two filters per voice, selectable drive curves, frequency modulation for oscillators and filters, three LFOs, four envelopes per voice, extensive modulation capabilities and a complex arpeggiator
Expect a UK price of £649 when it arrives in the UK within the next few weeks.
