Recording Hacks

A useful web resource
Recording Hacks is a web site set up by Matthew McGlynn, a self-professed gear fanatic. He's complied a database of more than 500 microphones from over 50 manufacturers (and it's still growing). It's not quite as extensive as Rycote's Microphone Data web site (which, at the time of writing, had over 1700 mics from 124 manufacturers), but offers subjective comment among some technical details.

Aside from the database there's a blog, penned by Matthew, and you can even subscribe to RSS feeds so you get notified whenever a new mic is added to the database, or a new article is posted on the blog. You can even buy Recording Hacks T-shirts and coffee mugs from the merchandise section!

One for a rainy day, or downtime in the studio, perhaps.
