AES 2009: Quested V3110 (Video)

Ownership of Quested – a US company renowned for producing high quality studio monitors – recently passed back to Guy Lewis and Roger Quested. Starting as they mean to go on, they have announced their most powerful active system to date, the V3110.

The three-way V3110 uses an uncommon amplifier layout, with two class A/B amplifiers powering the high- and mid-range driver, and a 700W class-D amplifier powering the bass driver. Class-D amplification is much more efficient than class A/B, and the high-powered unit is designed to provide excellent dynamic bass response at high SPLs. A long-throw ten-inch driver pounds out the low frequencies, with response rolling off at an impressive 30Hz.
