New summing mixer from British designer
Malcolm Toft, the man behind the Toft ATB consoles (one of which was reviewed in SOS February 2008) was at AES this year, showing a new summing mixer. The mixer has no preamps or EQ, and is designed to give an analogue feel to a mix produced in the box. The SA16 features all balanced IO, including all sends, returns and auxes. Each channel features an eight segment LED meter for accurate level matching, and a Fader Unity button that defeats the fader on the channel, allowing the SA16 to exactly match a mix coming from the DAW. The Toft SA16 will cost around £2000 and should be shipping in the first quarter of 2010.
