This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1073 microphone preamp, and to celebrate, AMS Neve are releasing a brand-new edition that features some nifty extra functionality to fit 21st Century working practices.
The new 1073 OPX is a 2U, eight-channel preamp, loaded with Marinair transformers. Its inputs can be accessed either via D-sub sockets on the rear panel, or 'combi' XLR/jack connectors on the front, so you can quickly patch in sources even when the unit is in a permanent installation.
A network socket on the back lets you connect the preamp to a computer for remote control and parameter recall, while an expansion slot lets you add AMS Neve's optional A-D/D-A card, for “mastering-grade” conversion and Dante connectivity.
Available now, the AMS Neve 1073 OPX retails for £2995/$3695, and the digital I/O card is selling for £795/$995. If you're quick, however, you can snag them both for an introductory price of £3495/$4295.
