Audient have announced that their ASP4816 Heritage Edition console, first previewed at this year’s NAMM show, is now ready for shipping. Featuring a brand new look and some new features inspired by the company’s flagship ASP8024-HE console, Audient say that this latest version is the perfect centrepiece for production studios.
The Heritage Edition of the console has been upgraded to include the mix bus processing functionality found on the ASP8024-HE, which features a real transformer drive circuit alongside Low Bump and High Lift EQ controls. The mix bus also utilises John Hardy 990 Op Amps, which Audient say offer “crystal clear clarity with a little bit of zing”. A Bass Expand function has also been added to the console’s bus compressor, which places a high-pass filter in the compressor’s sidechain to allow users to leave the low end unaffected whilst processing mixes.
Further improvements include the addition of a monitoring-grade headphone amplifier, latching footswitch triggers for hands-free talkback operation, and a VU meter to display gain reduction. There have also been several cosmetic changes, with the console sporting a new obsidian colour finish and a custom aluminium knob for the main output pot.
Along with the introduction of the Heritage Edition, some changes have been made to the ASP4816, with the updated version now known as the ASP4816-SE. This console also adopts the new colour scheme, as well as benefiting from the new white metering, easy to read labelling, and handmade wooden armrest.
“With ASP4816-SE we wanted to add value to our smallest console and provide a better user experience, without affecting its affordability.” - Andy Allen, Marketing Director at Audient
