Audio-Technica have announced the release of the ATS99, a new handheld hypercardioid dynamic microphone. Designed with stage performances in mind, the company say the microphone has been engineered to provide excellent responsiveness and fast transient delivery, and performs particularly well in capturing low- and mid-range sounds at high volumes.
The ATS99 features an internal shockmount structure which helps to significantly reduce handling noise, whilst a machined aluminium body ensures the microphone is light and easy to handle whilst being robust enough to stand up to the demands of live performances.
In terms of performance, Audio-Technica specify a frequency response of 60Hz to 16kHz (no tolerance stated), a sensitivity measurement of -52db (0db=1V/Pa, 1kHz), and an impedance of 600Ω. The ATS99 measures 181.5 x 50 mm (length x maximum diameter), and weighs 262g.
The ATS99 ships with an AT8470 stand clamp, a pouch, and a 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch thread adaptor.
