BIAS Peak Pro 6

Significant update to BIAS Peak Pro audio editor
Software developers, BIAS Inc., have announced a new version of their Peak audio editor for Mac. Peak Pro 6 has over 100 new features and is compatible with both Power PC- and Intel-based Macs.

There's a new, sleeker graphical user interface, windows are now 'magnetic', so they automatically snap together, making better use of valuable screen space, and high-resolution meters can be calibrated to different standards.

The Playlist function, which has been re-vamped in Peak Pro 6, has volume envelopes, a long list of default fades, and new zooming tools, for easy navigation of the playlist.

New editing features include what BIAS call 'perpetual loop DSP', which creates sustained loops from monophonic sources, free of uneven beating. There's an automatic ducking processor, which drops the level of background music during voiceovers, and is especially useful when creating Podcasts.

Time-stretching and pitch-shifting engines have been improved in Peak Pro 6, and the bundled V-Box plug-ins can be 'cross-synthesized', meaning they can be linked with each other to apply creative effects in real-time.
Peak Pro 6 will be shipping later this year, but prices are yet to be confirmed. Upgrades from version five will be available to customers for $149 (around £75), although you can upgrade for free if you bought version five after the 15th March 2007.
