Black Lion Audio have announced the upcoming launch of three new word-clock generators. The Revolution Clock series comprises three units that cater to a wide range of applications, and are said to be the most precise and reliable clocks the company have produced to date.
The Technology
Each of the three new units in the Revolution Clock range rely on Black Lion Audio’s patented Macro-MMC technology and MEMS oscillators, and promise to deliver industry-leading stability and performance — the company specify a measurement of just 0.5pS RMS of jitter at the devices’ BNC outputs. The flagship model also introduces a new Suspended Oscillation technology that physically isolates the oscillators from environmental vibrations in an effort to to maintain the highest possible accuracy, as well as employing a transformer to combat interference.
The Three Models
The flagship model in the new range is the Revolution Clock XC, which resides in a 1U rackmount enclosure and is capable of driving up to 14 devices and is capable of running at sample rates ranging from 44.1 to 384 kHz. It comes loaded with an array of rear-panel connections including nine BNC sockets (one input and eight outputs), two S/PDIF outputs on RCA connectors, a pair of Toslink sockets for ADAT optical connections and two AES/EBU outputs on XLRs.
Next up is the Revolution Clock (pictured at the top of this story), which occupies a smaller desktop enclosure and provides exactly half of each type of the output connections found on its larger XC sibling and omits the BNC input; as for sample rates, the unit supports the same 44.1 to 384 kHz range. The smallest of the three devices, the Revolution Clock Mini, simply offers a trio of BNC outputs and supports sample rates up to 192kHz.
