Update brings “smoother learning curve”
Software developers Cycling ’74 have announced a major update to their Max media programming environment. Max version 5 has a re-designed kernel, which is the component of the application that communicates between the hardware and software, such as MSP and Jitter, which run inside it.

Cycling ’74 say that the latest version is easier than ever to use, thanks to a new Patcher interface, a searchable database of objects and examples, integrated documentation and new tutorials. Other improvements include a revamped user interface, which the developers say will “aid in the expression and understanding of complex ideas”, leading to a "smoother learning curve".
A 30-day demo of Max 5 is available from the Cycling ’74 web site, where you’ll also find more information on MSP and Jitter, and details on how to purchase various Cycling ’74 bundles.
