Equi=Tech introduce the Model 1R

Latest balanced power unit aimed at small studios

Equi=Tech Model 1R balanced power supply unit

Symmetrical power technology pioneers Equi=Tech have announced the launch of their latest balanced power system, as well as a new partnership with pro-audio sales, marketing and distribution company Sound Vision Works.

Aimed boutique studios with more modest power requirements than their large-scale counterparts, the new Model 1R has been designed to address the ground noise and electrical interference issues faced by many studio users. The unit, which can be plugged into any standard 120V outlet, is rated at 1000 watts (10A) and isolates audio equipment from power-related issues such as hiss, hum, ground loops and distortion. It employs a bifilar-wound isolation transformer which produces 60Hz sine wave power, and is based on the proprietary specifications invented by Equi=Tech’s late founder, Martin Glasband, in 1992.

“Equi=Tech is eager to introduce Martin’s legacy to a new generation of users, and our partnership with Sound Vision Works provides the perfect foundation to do so. Martin conducted his groundbreaking research on the safe use and nationwide standard of balanced power applications over thirty years ago, and yet the technology is more relevant than ever. The Model 1R is a fantastic entry point for engineers and studios curious about the benefits of symmetrical power. It’s an easily integrable version of our larger wall-mount units that clients like Blackbird and Ardent Studios have come to rely on.” - Jan Glasband, CEO, Equi=Tech

Additional features include front-panel standby and power switches, two unswitched power outlets and 10 filtered outlets on the rear panel. It can be installed as either a desktop or rackmount unit.

"Plugging in my Equi=Tech at the studio was mind-blowing. During my A/B test against wall power, I thought I'd made a mistake — the instant improvement seemed impossible. Beyond just reducing noise, I gained depth, width and stability, and the snare had more body and organic tone; I've heard converter shootouts with less dramatic differences. I'm thrilled to represent Equi=Tech both professionally and as a user myself." - Will Kahn, Managing Director, Sound Vision Works
