Franklin Audio introduce the MP-10

Run any mic through effects pedals & amps

Franklin Audio MP-10 microphone through guitar pedals amp

The latest addition to Franklin Audio’s line-up has been designed to offer a convenient and hassle-free way to run a microphone though a guitar pedal or amp. The MP-10 will accept a signal from just about any mic, and features custom circuitry that’s been designed specifically to optimise the signal’s level and impedance to play nicely with guitar rigs.

There’s plenty of gain available thanks to the preamps a 12–60dB range, and the transformer-balanced design promises to deliver perfectly clean amplification with no colouration or added ‘character’ — the specifications state that the unit’s frequency response has a tolerance of just ±0.3dB between 20Hz and 30kHz. The MP-10 is just about as simple as such a device could be, sporting just a single top-panel gain control, with a pair of rear-panel switches providing a pad and phantom power for the mic input. Mic in and thru connections are provided on XLR sockets, while the instrument-level output is provided on a quarter-inch TS socket.
