At NAMM 2025, DPA introduced their Core+ technology, delivering improved technical specifications and enhanced performance across a selection of their already impressive microphones. At this year’s show, they’ll be showcasing the latest offering to benefit from the new upgrades, the 4099 Core+.
The company say that the design overhaul of their popular instrument mic virtually eliminates the non-linearities that can occur in the membrane and circuitry, resulting in a remarkably transparent and distortion-free sound. It offers significant improvements to the mic’s specifications, including 10dB of additional dynamic range and a higher clipping point when compared to its predecessor.
Along with the mic itself, DPA have also introduced a new mounting system that aims to usability and stability across an even broader range of instruments. a new Gooseneck Mount (G-Mount) features a two-step locking mechanism for precise one-hand positioning, and offers superior vibration isolation while remaining backwards compatible with many existing DPA clips. Several existing clips, such as those for cello, piano and microphone stands, have also been refined to enhance usability, adaptability and acoustic performance.
A new addition to the line-up, the XLR-MOUNT, allows users to mount 19mm pencil mics or XLR adapters with ease, and like all Core+ offerings, the enhanced 4099 also features DPA’s new MicroLock connector, as well as benefitting from a refined shockmount design and upgraded wind protection.
