Free spectral manipulation plug-in

New FFT-based VST plug-in for Windows released
Audio programmer Darrell Barrell has released DtBlkFx, an FFT-based (Fast Fourier Transform) plug-in that packs some impressive frequency manipulation tools.

Features include precise parametric equalisation — enough to adjust individual harmonics at resolutions of up to 0.7Hz — harmonic tracking, frequency shifting (both harmonic and non-harmonic) and two modes of vocoding. Frequencies can be ‘masked’, so that only unmasked sections of the spectrum to be altered, and phase randomisation can be used to smear the sound.

DtBlkFx v1.0 runs as a VST plug-in on PCs only. Users require Windows 98SE and above, and the full source code, in the C++ programming language, is supplied. It is available for free from www.rekkerd.org/dtblkfx.
