The latest arrival to GForce’s ever-growing collection of soft synths is said to “reimagine the fearless experimental spirit of the 1970s for today’s creators”. Inspired by modular systems from the likes of Serge Tcherepnin, Random*Source and Buchla USA, MAP is described as a sound design playground for artists who see synthesis not as programming, but as exploration.
MAP features three oscillators that offer a mixture of waveshaping and FM, along with a dual-filter section which houses a five-band resonant EQ and a multimode filter that can be routed in series or parallel. A comprehensive modulation system includes three looping envelopes and drawable LFOs along with a noise-based random LFO, while a generative polyphonic arpeggiator makes it possible to quickly create new sequences. There are some powerful onboard effects present, too, with Colour, Space and Time modules offering a variety of saturation, reverb and delay effects.
