Going Live: Alchemea launch Live Sound course

London audio college team up with Brixton venue
London-based audio school Alchemea are to branch out into the live sound market, having announced a new four-month diploma course. They’ve teamed up with Brixton venue The Fridge, who are currently undergoing refurbishment, to deliver the practical aspects of the course in real-world surroundings. Alchemea are installing top-notch front of house, and monitoring systems with a Digidesign Venue handling FOH mixing duties.

Alchemea’s newly appointed head of live sound, Alan ‘Nobby’ Hopkinson (who’s worked with, among others, Tool, Rage Against The Machine and Joan Armatrading), will oversee the students through the course, at the end of which they’ll have various industry-recognised certificates and qualifications, including the ‘safety passport’ and Digidesign’s Venue 210V certificate.

The first course starts on the 1st June, with subsequent courses to follow every four months. Currently, Alchemea are offering a 20 percent discount for the first course. Visit the Alchemea web site, or phone the college on +44 (0) 20 7359 3986 for more information.
