Missed the Sound On Sound guitar clinic at the Analogue to Digital Music Expo earlier this year? Bring your guitar along to Exeter Phoenix on 29 October and learn basic set-up and maintenance with the help of Andy Rockett from the SOS Moderators team.
The aim of the clinic is to teach the participants how to service and maintain their guitar so that it plays reliably in tune and they can identify problems that might need professional attention. Andy will also discuss guitar set-up in general terms so participants can make informed choices when getting their guitars professionally set up.
Like many guitarists in the 70's and 80's Andy Rockett learned the basics working on his own guitars. 20 years ago he took a course of evening classes at the London College of Furniture, and soon went on to study with Norman Reed at the Totnes School of Guitarmaking. Since then he has made electric and acoustic guitars, worked as stage crew at venues like Hammersmith and Wembley, run his own guitar workshop and worked for guitar shops. In recent years he has been an enthusiastic moderator on the SOS Guitar Tech forum at the Sound On Sound website.
