Realpiano Yahama DisklavierEver wanted to have your MIDI piano parts played on a hand-built Yamaha Disklavier grand piano, through Brauner microphones, using Prism Sound mic preamps and converters? If so, Realpiano could be just the service for you.
For those unfamiliar with the Yamaha Disklavier, it is an automated grand piano with the ability to capture and replay performances. This means MIDI data recorded elsewhere can be loaded in and replayed to get the full sound of a real grand piano.
Based near London, Realpiano provide a bespoke, hand-edited and personally produced piano recording service. Their services include 'Piano Capture', a service where you send your MIDI file and Realpiano recording using their hand-crafted 7-foot Yamaha DS6 Mk4-Pro grand piano and Brauner microphones. Typically this service costs in the region of £200 but varies according to length of piece and how much editing is required.
Realpiano also offer use of the piano for regular piano recording sessions. You can even play the piano in silent mode, with other instruments, and replay the performance later to get a piano sound without any spill from other instruments.
An extraordinary feature of the Disklavier, is that it can connect to another Disklavier over the internet. This means that if you have to record a session on the other side of the world, whatever you play at Realpiano will be replicated exactly on the remote piano. These so-called 'Remote Sessions' have the potential to save huge amounts of time and money for record companies and session players.
