Heritage Audio’s Neve 33609-inspired compressor has just become the latest of the company’s hardware offerings to gain a virtual counterpart. The HA-609A plug-in uses component-level modelling to faithfully recreate the sound and performance of the hardware, and is being offered as a free download to those who own the hardware version or one of the company’s i73 PRO audio interfaces. /reviews/heritage-audio-i73-pro-edge
The company say that the hardware HA-609A was designed as an evolution of the classic diode-bridge compressor rather than a recreation, expanding on the capabilities of the original unit and bringing it up to date with modern production needs. There’s not a whole to say about the plug-in version: it replicates the front-panel design of its hardware counterpart and promises to deliver the same “glue, punch and musical control”, while offering the obvious benefits of allowing for multiple instances and coming in at a significantly lower cost. There’s a 14-day trial version available for those who’d like to try it out.
Compatibility
The HA-609A plug-in is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.15.7 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
The HA-609A plug-in is available now, priced at $€99. Those who own the hardware version (or an i73 PRO interface) are eligible for a free license, which can be applied for here.
Heritage Audio have also introduced a Plugin Loyalty Program, which offers any customer a 20% discount on their second plug-in, 35% off of a third and 50% off of all additional plug-ins — the discount can be obtained by using the code “loyaltyprogram” for each purchase on the company’s website.
