Tubesessor plug-in from Heritage Audio

Company's CL-1B-inspired unit goes virtual

Heritage Audio Tubesessor plug-in Tube-Tech CL-1B emulation

Along with their ever-expanding hardware range, Heritage Audio have been steadily introducing plug-ins that bring virtual equivalents of their popular units to DAW users. The latest device to be treated to a software counterpart is the Tubesessor, an optical valve compressor that offers the company’s take on the Tube‑Tech CL‑1B.

Two years in development, the new plug-in faithfully recreates the hardware version, including the additional features that were not present in the design that inspired it. The company say that the new software version accurately captures the sound of the Tubesessor’s NOS Raytheon double-triode valve, and is capable of “punching up” signals and delivering everything from a subtle edge to full-on valve-driven fuzz. As you’d expect, the GUI replicates the hardware version’s front panel, including the four-step Tube Saturation control that helps to define its sonic character, and includes versatile choice of five different side-chain filter frequencies.

Heritage Audio say that the latest offering is well worth trying out on drums and guitars in particular, and there’s a 14-day trial version available if you don’t want to take their word for it! The company are also offering a free license to anyone who already owns the hardware version.

Tubesessor is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.15.7 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
