Hit’n’Mix preview RipX Backstage

Rip Audio-based App coming to Apple Vision Pro

Hit'n'Mix RipX Backstage Apple Vision Pro DAW virtual augmented reality music production App

Hit’n’Mix have released some information on an upcoming version of their RipX software designed specifically for the Apple Vision Pro virtual/augmented reality headset. RipX Backstage relies on the same Rip Audio technology that powers the company’s desktop-based DAW, but allows users to interact with a virtual studio with no additional hardware required.

As with the existing versions of RipX, the new software removes the distinction between MIDI and audio tracks, presenting everything within a session as musical notes. Vision Pro users will be able to take control of instruments and audio tracks by looking around, tapping with their fingers, singing and humming, allowing them to play virtual keyboards, guitars or drums without the need for any form of controller. Thanks to the software’s comprehensive stem-separation capabilities, the software is able to divide tracks into separate instrument parts, which are then arranged around the user in a virtual space; instruments can be dragged to different positions, and it’s even possible to ‘approach’ them to listen in detail, or even play along!

The company are currently looking for Vision Pro testers to help out with the final stages of development as they move towards its final release. More information can be found on the Hit’n’Mix website.

“RipX Backstage is set to revolutionise music enjoyment and production by providing an intuitive and immersive experience, allowing songs to be played in exciting new ways and created anywhere, by anyone. Our innovative tools empower users to step inside music, to create, hear, see and interact with it like never before. We’re excited to bring this cutting-edge technology to Apple Vision Pro, and we’re already looking into possibilities for Meta Quest. Our goal is to make RipX Backstage accessible to all music creators, enabling them to bring their artistic visions to life in a truly unique and engaging way.“ - Martin Dawe, creator of RipX Backstage and CEO of Hit’n’Mix
