Icon Pro Audio may be best known for their range of control surfaces, but their product line‑up also extends to microphones, keyboards, monitoring solutions and audio interfaces. The latest addition to that last category has just been announced, and boasts a striking design that centres around a 10-inch capacitive multi-touch LCD screen.
Designed to provide optimal viewing from any angle, Icon say that the Touch 8's screen provides a set of ultra-responsive virtual faders that glide smoothly with a simple touch, along with a set of buttons that activate with light pressure. The interface also includes clear 15-segment metering, along with quick access to key functions such as a -20dB pad, instrument/mic/line input switching, +48V phantom power and a polarity reversal for each channel.
As for connectivity, the Touch 8 is equipped with four Neutrik XLR/TRS combo inputs that’ll accept mic, line-level and instrument signals, four quarter-inch TRS line-level outputs and eight channels of ADAT I/O. Control from a computer is provided by the company’s iO Pro software, which offers access to headphone levels, master outputs and direct monitoring, as well as being capable of hosting plug-ins for use during streaming or live performances. The interface also includes UNI OTG (On-The-Go) connectivity, which allows for a direct audio connection to internet streaming services on a mobile device.
