KIT Plugins release BB Chamber A

Models iconic reverb chamber's moving ceiling

KIT Plugins BB Chamber a reverb Blackbird Studio plug-in modelled moving ceiling

KIT Plugins’ latest collaboration with Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studio has just arrived, and becomes the first of the company’s offerings to utilise AI technology. BB Chamber A emulates the reverb chamber in Blackbird Studio A, a room famed for its moveable ceiling.

The top half of the plug-in’s GUI houses settings related to the chamber itself, offering a variable ceiling height and a choice of AEA R88, AKG C24 and AKG C414 mic options, each of which can be set to ceiling or floor positions. A Source section follows, allowing users to select either a modelled PA or hi-fi speaker as their sound source, or opt for Direct, which bypasses the modelled speakers and microphones and uses additional modelling to emulate the source being physically placed into the chamber. The right section then contains a dry/wet mix control.

A channel strip section follows, and starts with a Saturation control based on the company’s BB N73 preamp plug-in, along with high- and low-pass filters that can be placed pre- or post-chamber, or both. Further tonal shaping is then provided by a four-band EQ section derived from BB N105, which is placed before a Compressor section that is home to a simple one-knob compressor. Finally, an Output fader offers a final level control at the end of the processing chain.

"Real reverb chambers have a magic to them. The billions of reflections are a nearly impossible thing to emulate. The BB Chamber a captures the nuance and magic of my chamber in a way I have never heard before, giving me the ability to take the chamber with me wherever I go. The depth and realism are unbelievable. Experience it yourself — I believe you will love it.” - John McBride, Owner of Blackbird Studio
