KIT Plugins have announced the launch of BB F66 and BB F67, the latest plug-ins created in collaboration with Nashville’s Blackbird Studio. The new processors are the first compressors to join the company’s line-up, and emulate the personal Fairchild 660 of country singer Martina McBride.
The first of the two plug-ins, BB F66, is an authentic recreation of the sought-after unit. Input Gain, Threshold and Make Up Gain parameters are joined by a Time Constant switch that offers six predefined attack and release time settings, while a Mix control allows for instant parallel processing. A variable (off – 500Hz) side-chain filter is also present, and the meter can be configured to display either input, output or gain-reduction levels. BB F67, meanwhile, is a two-channel version based on the Fairchild 670, offering Linked, Stereo and Mid-Side operation modes along with independent controls for each channel.
Both plug-ins benefit from some handy built-in tools such as A/B setting comparison, undo and redo functions and a fully resizeable GUI. They also come loaded with a preset manager that includes over 80 settings curated by the KIT Plugins team and notable Grammy-winning engineers, as well as allowing users to save and recall their own favourite settings.
Compatibility
BB F66 and BB F67 are supported on PCs running Windows 7 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. Authorisation is carried out via PACE’s iLok system either via a USB iLok or iLok Cloud — machine-based licensing is not supported.
Pricing & Availability
BB F66 and BB F67 are available now, and are currently (16 August 2024) being offered at an introductory price of $69, reduced from $99.
