There are few hardware compressors more famous than the UREI 1176-LN — and now live sound experts KLARK TEKNIK have announced that they have begun shipping their own take on the revered device, in the shape of the 1176-KT FET-style compressor. With an attainable list price of $689.99 ($599.99 street), the 1176-KT has a discrete signal path and uses custom-engineered Midas input and output transformers.
Like the hardware it is based upon, the compressor offers three ratios: 4:1 for moderate compression; 8:1 for severe compression: 12:1 for mild limiting; and 20:1 for hard limiting. Additionally, an ‘all-button’ mode is included for aggressive vocals and is said to be especially effective when applied to drums, bass, guitar and room microphones.
As well as the obligatory Attack and Release controls, the 1176-KT also sports an illuminated vintage-style VU meter like the UREI original. The meter applies visual confirmation of either gain reduction or output level based on which meter button is selected.
The 1176-KT comes in 2U steel rack mount enclosure for rigorous live concert touring. Premium Neutrik XLR connectors ensure reliable audio connection night after night. Universal power supply with auto-voltage sensing is included for worldwide usability.
The 1176-KT also is covered by MUSIC’s 3-Year Limited Warranty Program.
