Spitfire Audio’s LABS series is a growing collection of software instruments that are available for anyone to download completely free of charge. The series provides sounds captured from a wide variety of sources, ranging from sampled acoustic instruments through to weird and wonderful creations such as a Yamaha CS-80 being played through a collection of cassette players, and even a sample library crafted from recordings of the giant foghorn at Sumburgh Head Lighthouse in Shetland, Scotland.
The latest release, LABS Autograph Grand, captures the sound of a Yamaha C6 grand piano. The particular example in question is housed in a prestigious studio in Malibu which has played host to a huge selection of high-profile musicians, including the likes of Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, and Arianna Grande, through to acts such as Metallica, RZA, and Korn.
The instrument is presented within Spitfire Audio’s own dedicated plug-in, and features just a single preset and a simple interface that provides pedal up and down controls along with faithfully captured release triggers.
Compatibility
LABS Autograph Grand is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. It is available in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats.
