Spitfire Audio’s free BBCSO Discover library offers an entry point into their vast collection of orchestral sample libraries, and delivers a packed-down collection of instruments from its paid-for BBC Symphony Orchestra Core/Professional counterparts. It’s been a popular addition to the company’s line-up, with over a million copies downloaded to date. Now, the company have announced the introduction of Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Discover, which takes the same approach with another of their best-selling collections.
While the BBCSO library was captured at the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s home, Maida Vale Studios, the recordings for SSO took place in Lyndhurst Hall at the legendary AIR Studios. The latest offering takes the same approach as the first Discover library, packing in a selection of 44 instruments and 73 articulations derived from the full version of Spitfire Symphony Orchestra. The release promises to set a new standard for Spitfire’s accessible range, and has been designed to allow composers, producers and instrumentalists across all genres to easily experiment with authentic orchestral arrangements.

Compatibility
Spitfire Symphony Orchestra Discover runs in Native Instruments Kontakt Player (or the full version of Kontakt) versions 7.5.2 or above, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
