Milab / Pearl Microphones have introduced the Pearl ELM-T Bernt Malmqvist Signature Edition, a valve microphone designed by Bernt Malmqvist, who has worked at the company since 1954!
The microphone is built around Pearl Microphones’ ELM capsule and offers seamlessly variable polar patterns. Power is delivered via a custom-made PSU from Berlin-based Andreas Grosser, and the company say the pairing results in a microphone that offers a warm and detailed sound, whilst exhibiting low self-noise (15dB A-Weighted) and a very smooth off-axis response. Frequency response is quoted as 20Hz to 25kHz, and the microphone can withstand a maximum SPL of 126dB (1% THD at 1kHz).
Each model is built entirely by hand at Milab’s facility in Sweden, and comes supplied in an aluminium case with a PSU, cable, Rycote shockmount, as well as an individual frequency chart. The microphone is also covered by a lifetime warranty.
