Music Production Workshops with Alan Parsons

19 – 20 July 2024 at ParSonics, Santa Barbara, CA

ASSR Music Production Workshop Alan Parsons

The latest in-person event hosted by The Art & Science Of Sound Recording (ASSR) is fast approaching, and the organisation have announced that it will be introducing a new format and taking an updated approach from their popular run of masterclasses.

As before, the event is being held at Parsons’ studio in the hills above Santa Barbara, and attendees will be able to sit at the facility’s Neve 5088 console and get their hands on an enviable collection of outboard gear including an UnFairchild compressor and units from the likes of DBX, SPL, Zulu and more, along with the studio’s wealth of plug-ins. Alan and his assistant engineer Noah Bruskin will be on hand to provide guidance while attendees record a variety of exciting musicians including American Idol star James Durbin using a classic mic collection built from Alan’s days at Abbey Road.

The second day of the event will then focus on mixing, with look at the current state of spatial and immersive audio led by ASSR Immersive Audio course author and expert David Reyes. Throughout the day, attendees will be able to mix the music recorded the first day, as well as working on some truly classic recordings that are set to be remixed in Dolby Atmos.

The workshops will be taking place on 19 and 20 July 2024 at ParSonics Studios in Santa Barbara, California. Ticket prices are as follows:

  • Recording Day: $1199
  • Mix Day: $1099
  • Both days: $2199
