The latest release from independent developer Fred Anton Corvest offers a convenient way to control both MIDI-equipped instruments and CV-based modular gear. Available for the Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Vision Pro, Polyflo is capable of simultaneously transmitting MIDI and CV data, and comes packed with comprehensive modulation tools.
Polyflo features a pair of LFO generators that offer a choice of 10 waveforms and support cross-modulation and sync’ing, along with an envelope follower that’s capable of tracking either the input of an audio effects track or an external side-chain signal. The signals generated by the LFO and envelope follower, along with the plug-in’s host clock and MIDI input, are then routed to six FLO(W) processors. The processors are capable of combining, shaping and routing their input signals, with individual polarity, division and multiplication controls, providing deep and flexible modulation which the developer says “balances chaotic creativity with precise timing.”
Each FLO(W processor’s output is feeds its own dedicated bus, allowing users to easily integrate hardware instruments via an audio interface that offers DC-coupled outputs. For simpler setups, the output buses can be routed to the stereo output, and Polyflo can also convert MIDI Notes, Pitch and CC messages into control voltages. Those working entirely with software can still take advantage of Polyflo thanks to its full support of MIDI.
