Sonora Cinematic’s latest Kontakt instrument has arrived, providing musicians and sound designers with an array of ambient, cinematic and experimental vocals performed by classically trained soprano Emma May Price.
Aria Vocalscapes is presented in an intuitive interface with two dedicated sample slots and a large X/Y pad. A wide variety of vocal articulations are included, ranging from traditional ‘Ahh’ and ‘Mmh’ sounds to heavily processed vocals, and users are also free to load in their own samples, should they wish. The instrument has been built around the company’s new Aria engine, which offers a range of powerful modulation capabilities along with built-in expressive effects and sample manipulation.
With samples assigned to either slot, users are able to crossfade between articulations using the X/Y pad, making it simple to create interesting, evolving vocal sounds. There’s also a pair of independent filters that can be controlled by their own dedicated step sequencers, as well as per-layer LFOs and three effects slots that can be loaded with a selection of onboard processors. What’s more, any of the available parameters can be assigned to either axis of the X/Y pad, offering a wealth of expressive control capabilities.

Compatibility
Aria Vocalscapes runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player (version 7.7 or above), which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
