The latest instalment in Spitfire Audio’s flagship sample library series has arrived, capturing the sound of a world-class flutes a2 section performing in Studio One of the legendary facility. Joining the existing line-up of strings and percussion, Abbey Road Orchestra: Flutes comes packed with a comprehensive range of articulations, and promises to deliver unparalleled expression and realism.
As with the rest of the collection, Abbey Road Orchestra: Flutes is available in Core and Professional variants, which both share the same depth of sampling, but differ in the amount of mic signals and articulations provided. Core equips users with a single pre-mixed signal (Simon Rhodes’ Mix 1), whereas Professional includes a total of 16 mic positions and mixes, along with an extended set of articulations that include additional legato techniques.
The company say that the library captures the essence of a Flautist’s seamless transitions, which have been meticulously recorded in an effort to allows users to program smooth and expressive note changes. The extended techniques included in the Pro version are said to be Spitfire’s most advanced woodwind patches to date, with no fewer than seven legato types joined by accented marcato and 'soft swell' techniques for single long notes that can be triggered by note velocity for the ultimate in expression and playability.
