Solid State Logic have released Guitarstrip, an all-in-one channel strip plug-in aimed at electric, acoustic and bass guitars. Equipped with four carefully tailored processing modules, Guitarstrip offers a range of tools for crafting the tone of any guitar part.
A Drive module equipped with both Guitar Amp and Bass amp models provides tube amp emulation for adding saturation to tracks. Pre-Amp and Drive controls are available, with automatic gain compensation allowing users to introduce harmonic content without affecting the overall signal level. Boost, Punch, Edge and Shape controls offer tonal shaping options, and a Mix control provides a dry/wet control for the section allowing for built-in parallel processing.
A Phase Correction module provides a way to correct phase issues within a simple and intuitive interface, and offers two different routing modes. A Sidechain mode allows users to correct phase and align their guitar track by referencing an externally side-chained signal, whilst Left and Right Chan modes offer correction of just the left or right channels of a stereo signal. An Allpass filter allows frequency-dependant phase correction possible, and the section also contains a correlation meter to display the phase relationship between signals.
EQ & Compression
Guitarstrip also features a simple three-band EQ which can be placed either at the start or end of the processing chain, and benefits from an Auto Listen function which allows users to automatically audition an EQ band when a parameter is changed.
The Compressor section offers five carefully designed presets which have been optimised for use on a range of guitar material, from electric lead parts to acoustic strumming. An Auto-Gain feature provides automatic make-up gain, and 24dB/octave high-pass filter is available at the section’s input to help clear up unwanted low-frequency content. Finally, a Mix control allows for parallel compression within the plug-in.
The plug-in is supported on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, as well as macOS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher. It is available in AU, VST2, VST3 and AAX formats.
