Back in May, we ran a competition to win a TL Audio M1 F8 valve mixer and Firewire interface. The response was overwhelming, and we’d like to thank everyone who entered — but as is normally the way with these competitions, there can only be one winner. On this occasion, that lucky entrant was one Phil Sims of North London, who received his prize earlier this month.
“I managed to give the desk a good workout over the bank holiday weekend,” he has told us, “and I'm mightily impressed by the sound. I've previously only mixed 'in the box' and have been on the lookout for a while for something to bring some extra warmth and richness to my tracks. The valves dial in a lovely bit of body and depth without making things muddy, but I love the channel EQs the most. They just make everything I put through them sound better, not really like any EQ i've used before!
