Promising to push EQ processing to a new level, the latest addition to the ToneBoosters range takes their Equalizer 4 plug-in and kits it out with a whole host of new features and upgrades. Equalizer Pro sports a slick new look, greatly expands the number of filter shapes and types, offers dynamic equalisation, supports up to 64-channel immersive audio formats and much more.
The new plug-in is equipped with a wealth of filter types that can operate in either static or dynamic modes, with the latter offering both compression and expansion. As well as a range of standard filter types, Equalizer Pro also features some new and innovative variants that only process certain elements of the incoming signal — transient and sustain options are joined by direct sound, ambience and background noise options, and you also get a sibilance filter that allows the plug-in to carry out de-essing.
ToneBoosters have implemented a number of other new features including an EQ learn and match function, as well as loudness matching that will automatically set the plug-in’s output gain in accordance with EBU R129 and ITU BS.1770 standards. Those working in immersive formats will be pleased to see support for up to 64 channels of audio, allowing Equalizer Pro to cater for high-channel-count formats such as Ambisonics and Dolby Atmos. There’s also improved DAW and EUCON control surface integration, with the plug-in now able to display its EQ curve in the mixer or inspector views of compatible DAWs.
