Point Blank launch video tuition service

Online music educators Point Blank have announced a new feature of their web-based courses, called DVR, or Direct Video Response. DVR allows Point Blank to offer their students one-to-one video tuition and feedback on their work, and was developed, according to Point Blank Managing Director Jules Brookes, as a response to concerns that online tuition would lack the personalised learning experience of the classroom.

Point Blank currently offer courses in a range of styles, including dubstep, trance, electro and house, with the majority of learning materials presented in text, audio and video tutorials. Assignments based on those resources are set, and once students have completed them, feedback is given on an individual basis via DVR. Other students on the same course can hear their classmates’ work, and then view the DVR feedback for each other’s assignments, as well as leave each other feedback.

But that’s not all that DVR offers: live masterclasses with tutors, and chats with both tutors and classmates, are also available to help students with their learning. Course fees range from £325 to £645, depending on the course, and courses start either every month or every quarter, so learning isn’t limited to traditional school term times.
