01V96 and 02R96 now bundled with VCM processing!
Despite their age, the Yamaha 01V96 and 02R96 remain in place as the linchpin of many facilities, small and large, mainly due to their intuitive and flexible routing and high sound quality. V2 updates for the consoles came in 2005, equipping them with new effects packs and capabilities, while add-on effects have been available for some time as paid upgrades.
The latest news from Yamaha is that the VCM (Virtual Circuit Modelling) Channel Strip and Rev-X reverb processors, which were formerly only available as optional exras, are now standard features on both the 0- series mixers — the company have even suffixed ‘VCM’ to the model numbers to make sure we know about it!
Customers who purchased the V2 revisions of the consoles can upgrade to VCM spec for free if they made their purchase after the 1st January 2008. For further details, check out the downloads page of Yamaha’s web site.
