Plug-in developer Waves have announced a new service that lets users rent software on a short-term basis. The scheme, called the Waves Rental Plan, applies to selected bundles of software for periods of seven or 30 days (longer rentals can be arranged through authorised Waves dealers), at prices considerably lower than the full license.
For example, you can hire the Maserati Collection for just $60 per week (the full license costs $640), and the API native bundle costs $75 for the same period of time. The larger Platinum Bundle is available to rent too, costing $143 for a week or $575 for a month.
Waves say that the scheme will be perfect for engineers and producers either in the studio or on the road, who need to give their projects the Waves “edge” without splashing out on the non-time-limited version.
