Ken Scott, the man who engineered and produced some of the world’s most iconic artists and albums is to speak at the Leeds branch of independent music technology and instrument retailer Red Dog Music on Thursday 30th November.
After beginning his career in the tape library at the famous Abbey Road Studios, Ken Scott went on to engineer albums including The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour and the White Album, Elton John’s Honky Chateau, and produce records from artists such as David Bowie, Supertramp and Kansas.
Red Dog Music’s Gavin Bowick said ”As someone who thinks that The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is the greatest album ever pressed, it’s a pleasure to be able to bring Ken Scott to Red Dog Music in Leeds. Having heard Ken speak previously, I’m overjoyed that we can bring his expertise, wisdom and humour to a new audience”
Presented in association with leading recording technology brand Universal Audio, Ken will give insight into a career that will take you all the way from getting hired by Abbey Road at 16 years old, through the Trident Studios days, to the present day, working in an industry that looks very different to how it used to, both technologically and economically.
Free tickets for An Audience with Ken Scott are available via Eventbrite and one attendee will win one of Universal Audio’s acclaimed Apollo Twin interfaces worth £799 so they can record and mix with modern recreations of the equipment that Ken knew so well.
